Common reasons a refund is refused
- Over 90 days. Goods must leave Japan within 90 days of purchase.
- Goods not shown. On a red result, customs must see the items. Checked bags already sent cannot be shown.
- Receipt under ¥5,000. Each receipt counts alone, excluding tax. Separate small receipts are not added up.
- Skipped the terminal. Without the passport scan before check-in, customs cannot confirm the export.
