TaxBackJapan.com is operated by Flygi AB in Gothenburg, Sweden. We are the data controller and follow the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
What we collect
Without an account, receipts, checklist progress, currency and language settings are stored only in your browser on this device. We never receive them.
If you create an account, we store your email address and the receipts you save (store, date, item, amount and tax rate) so you can reach them on any device.
Why we use it
To provide the refund calculator and your saved receipts (contract), to keep the service secure (legitimate interest) and, only with your consent, to show personalised ads and measure usage.
Sharing
We use trusted processors for hosting, login and ads (such as Google AdSense and AdMob). We never sell your data. Some processors may handle data outside the EU under standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
Account data is kept until you delete your receipts or ask us to delete your account. Local data stays on your device until you clear it.
Your rights
You can request access, correction, deletion, restriction or a copy of your data, and object to processing. You may also complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY).
